WMS Lite process - Sales Order fulfilment

WMS Lite supports several processes. One of these processes is picking and fulfilling sales orders. In this document this process is explained.

Before you can get started with the delivery process of WMS Lite, it is important that your company is properly equipped for the delivery process within WMS Lite. On the start page WMS Lite you'll find an overview of the various settings which are important for working with WMS Lite.

The steps in the delivery process can be executed automatically. For this you can use the Auto queue functionality and the WMS fulfillment service. For proper operation of this functionality, it is important that the services are installed and correctly configured. Also several settings are important for this feature. In document  E-WMS Auto Queue this functionality is explained in detail.

The process for picking and fulfilling sales orders consists of the following steps:

  1. Enter sales order
The sales order is entered in Exact Globe Next. Entering the sales order is done in a similar manner as a regular sales order in Exact Globe Next. Unlike WMS I, WMS Lite does not offer a WMS button in the sales order entry screen and purchase order entry screen, since linking a scanner to orders serves no purpose in WMS Lite. In WMS Lite, orders are always always sent picking to the generic picking queue. Depending on your order settings, the sales order has to be authorized and confirmed

  2. Generate pick advice
For serial/batch items and main locations (for normal items) you have to generate a picking advice. This can be done automatically via the Auto queue functionality or manually via the button 'Advice' in the control centre sales order fulfillment. Generating picking advice is only mandatory when the setting 'Picking advice' in the WMS sales order fulfillment settings is checked.

  3. Send to scanner
After the advise is generated, the orders which have to be picked can be sent to the hand terminals. This can be done automatically via the Auto queue functionality or manually via the button 'Send to scanner' in the control centre sales order fulfillment.

  4. Order picking
Based on the advice, the order pickers can pick the orders via the hand terminals. If applicable SSCC registration can take place.

  5. Read from scanner
When order picking is finished the picked quantities and serial/batch numbers can be read back. This can be done automatically via the WMS fulfillment service or manually via the button 'Read from scanner' in the control centre sales order fulfillment.

  6. Validate
The information which is read back has to be validated. This can be done automatically via the WMS fulfillment service or manually via the button 'Validate' in the control centre sales order fulfillment.

  7. Process
Once validated the information can be processed automatically via the WMS fulfillment service or manually via the button 'Process' in the control centre sales order fulfillment. Processing results in a delivery note, an invoice (if set) en a decrease of stock in Exact Globe Next. In document E-WMS Automatic Fulfillment you can read more about installing and configuring the functionality for automatic fulfillment.

During sending to scanner, reading from scanner, validating and processing a (bar code) label can be generated automatically.
For order explosion items, you have to register both the main item and parts on the hand terminal.
